Most important is that a dog be a natural hunting dog.  We believe that it is bred into our hounds to hunt, trail and tree a coon.  They must be peaceful at the tree,  easy to handle and straight.  We do not waste our time on a dog that does not have these qualities.  When we breed for a litter of pups,  we are breeding proven coon dogs.  Our females are hunted and have to prove themselves in the woods the same as the stud dogs.  We hunt for pleasure.  At Rack Island Kennels we hunt and raise pleasure coon dogs.    We raise a few litters a year and pups are available from time to time. 

    We hunt and raise Treeing Walkers and Plott Hounds.  These dogs are all of proven lines to hunt, hard tree dogs, great pedigree's and looks.

    We recently purchased some treeing cur dogs from Amy and Ray Kovac.  We are looking for some great things from this "Amazing" line of treeing curs.  We hunt our treeing curs on squirrel and coon.  We recently purchased a half treeing cur half walker female from Ray and boy is she a knock out for looks.  We would like to thank them both for making these dogs available to us and most of all for the friendship we formed along the way.

    If in doubt,  come to our kennel and we will put you in the woods with a dog that will show you what pleasure hunting is all about.  Dogs that will impress you at the tree.

   Good plott hounds are hard to find.  Our plotts will tree hard and have you a coon to look at.  They hunt medium range,  open well on tracks and have a great locate with a steady chop mouth at the tree.

   With pedigree's that include the who's who of the Treeing Walker breed, Sackett Jr, Rat Attack, Rat Trap and Cowee Creek Clint, Our Walkers are hard tree dogs that can work a track like a pro.
